Pantera is an American heavy metal band formed in Arlington, Texas in 1981. Credited with developing and popularizing groove metal in the 1990s, their best-known lineup—Phil Anselmo, Dimebag Darrell, Vinnie Paul, and Rex Brown—broke through with Cowboys from Hell and Vulgar Display of Power; Far Beyond Driven debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200. After disbanding in 2003, the group returned to touring in 2022 with Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante filling in for the late Abbott brothers.
